The old and the new
In some places, there are buildings. Or remains of buildings that remind us of our history and our ancestors. Pakistan is a land where great civilizations existed in the past. Their remains help us to learn about our past, which still influences our culture and traditions.
In a modern city like Islamabad or karachi, there are many fine, new buildings. These remind us that pakistan is a developing nation. When we travel in an aeroplane, a train or a car we are reminded that pakistan has a modern communications network that can transport us to any part of the country or the world.

Our problem
No country is perfect, and in our country too, there are some problems. These will not just disappear: we all have to work hard to overcome them. Some of the major problems are illiteracy, a rapid rise in the population, unemployment, diseases, poverty, and corruption.
There are many people in the country who are very poor and have no proper homes or any other facilities. They cannot afford to go to hospitals when they fall ill. Many people in the villages and far-off places cannot educate their children. A lot of people also have no regular jobs and this adds to the poverty in the country.
